The regional sports and mass event "Queen and Pawn" aimed at developing the intellectual and creative potential of children through involving them in a game of chess will be held in Dzerzhinsk on December 16, BelTA learned from the education department of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee.

Participants "Queen and Pawn" will get acquainted with the implementation of regional projects, the work of chess classes and clubs, visit exhibitions and presentations, etc. Teachers will share their own experience, discuss topical issues that will help improve the quality of work on the development and popularization of chess in educational institutions central region.

The event, which will be held at Gymnasium No. 1 in Dzerzhinsk (Tolstoy Street 7a), will be attended by representatives of the Education Department of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, the Minsk Regional Institute of Education Development, the Education, Sports and Tourism Departments of the Mountain and District Executive Committees, as well as teachers, students and their parents. Everyone will be able to visit photo zones and chess zones.

In schools and gymnasiums, institutions of additional education for children and youth of the Minsk region, systematic work is carried out to develop and popularize chess.

In Belarus there is a curriculum of elective lessons "Chess universal", developed by the specialists of the National Institute of Education of the Ministry of Education, which is intended for implementation in primary school (I-IV classes). The program provides for the education of children in the rules of chess play, the laws of chess logic, the technique of martial arts, as well as the training of chess players of lower ranks. The content of the program is aimed at the formation of the logical literacy of junior schoolchildren, the development of creative thinking, the expansion of the conceptual framework, the education of strong-willed qualities.
