A monument in honor of graduates awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of the Russian Federation appeared in the Minsk flying club, BelTA has learned.

The opening ceremony took place today at the Lipki airfield of the Minsk Aeroclub named after. Sergei Gritshevets. The memorial is dedicated to 15 graduates of the flying club, who received the title of Hero of the Soviet Union and Hero of the Russian Federation, their names are placed on the stele.

The event was attended by the Hero of the Russian Federation test pilot of the aviation scientific and industrial complex Sukhoi Design Bureau, the author of the personal figure - the Frolov chakra and the multiple world champion Yevgeny Frolov. At one time he worked for 9 years as an instructor in the Minsk aeroclub DOSAAF.

The monument, according to the head of the press center of DOSAAF Yuri Kozhevnikov, will help in the education of youth. "Each memorial plaque carries a high educational load.It is not only an island of memory that reminds of what happened, but also the emotional impact on the younger generation.Maybe someone looking at this memorial, will open a love for heaven and become pilot, "he noted.

According to him, the author of the idea was the head of the Minsk Aeroclub Nikolai Mochansky. And one monument will not be limited here: in the near future, on the initiative of the head, a museum will also be opened in honor of outstanding graduates. "Nikolai Petrovich has long wanted to open a museum in an aero club, he has a lot of personal belongings of Heroes of the Soviet Union - gloves, documents, a room will be selected, an architectural solution will be developed to make the original gallery," said Yuri Kozhevnikov.

On the basis of the Minsk Aeroclub DOSAAF, an infrastructure has been set up to train military pilots and athletes. The technical base allows to carry out refueling and storage of aircraft. Thanks to the automatic meteorological station, the airfield can receive aircraft during heavy winds and snowfalls.
