MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – In 2009 the Minsk oblast increased the number of farmsteads, BelTA learnt from the physical culture sport and tourism department of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee.
In recent years the number of the farmsteads increased several times. In 2006 the Minsk oblast had only six farmsteads, in 2007 – 48, in 2008 – 125 farmsteads. In 2009 some 214 farmsteads were registered in the Minsk oblast. The greatest number of the farmsteads was registered in the Minsk region (63), the Myadel region (28) and the Volozhin region (19). All in all, around 24,400 people took rest there.
According to representatives of the Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, this year the local authorities would like not to increase the number of the farmsteads but to improve their services. They plan to organize special training seminars and festivals.
Not only the Belarusians but foreigners mostly the Russian tourists visit the Belarusian farmsteads which offer a great number of services including fishing, hiking, national cuisine tasting.
The Minsk Oblast Executive Committee pays heightened attention to development of the rural tourism in the region. Every region has set up working group to operate with agro-tourism facilities. The Minsk oblast publishes special advertising booklets including “Rural Tourism”, “Farmsteads of Minsk Oblast”.
