MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ Darya Domracheva and Ole Einar Bjoerndalen of Norway have been selected as Champions of the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games by the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), BelTA learned.
The Belarusian biathlete collected at least 45% of the vote from the panel of journalists coming from 20 different. Slovenian Tina Maze is second with 21% of the vote. She won two gold medals in Downhill and Giant Slalom. Norway’s Marit Bjorgen, the winner of three gold medals (Skiathlon 7,5 km Classic + 7,5 km Free, Team Sprint Classic Final, 30km Mass Start Free), is third with 7% of the vote.
The Norwegian legend Ole Einar Bjoerndalen triumphed over the Korean-Russian Victor An by a small margin. The Best Male Athlete list goes like this:
1) Ole Einar Bjoerndalen (28%), Norway, Biathlon, 2 gold medals (10 km Sprint, Mixed 2x6+2x7,5 km Relay)
2) Victor An (27%), Russia, Short Track, 3 gold medals (1000m, 500 m, 5000 m Relay) 1 bronze medal (500m)

Netherlands Men\'s speed skating was voted the best team (16% of the vote)
