MOSCOW, 10 February (BelTA) – The progress in the project to build the Belarus tractor assembly plant in Cambodia was discussed in a meeting between Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Igor Petrishenko and Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to Russia Thay Vanna.
The construction of the plant is in the final stage. The expected capacity is 500 tractors per year, said the embassy.
During the meeting, the diplomats exchanged views on the most pressing issues of bilateral relations. Particular attention was paid to the trade and economic cooperation, development of the legal framework and the ways of intensifying the bilateral relations and expanding contacts by exchanging visits.
The parties also discussed the possibility of increasing the deliveries of Belarusian goods, mining and road-building machinery, agriculture equipment, and potash fertilizers to Cambodia.
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Kingdom of Cambodia were established on 25 January 1995. The bilateral trade amounted to $6.2 million in January-November 2013, of which $5.2 million was Belarusian export.
