Belarus-Turkey visa-free travels agreement in Turkish parliament

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – The Turkish parliament is debating the Belarusian-Turkish agreement on lifting visa requirements. The information was released by Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Cemil Cicek as he met with the chairmen of both chambers of the Belarus parliament in Minsk on 20 November, BelTA has learned.

Cemil Cicek mentioned the importance of getting the document ratified for the sake of advancing the bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Turkey. He requested the parliamentarians in his delegation to complete the relevant formalities on the Turkish side as soon as possible. The Belarus parliament has already ratified the Belarusian-Turkish agreement on lifting visa requirements.

Speaking about the level of relations between the two countries, Cemil Cicek said there were no political problems between Belarus and Turkey. “There is an environment conducive to the advancement of relations in all fields. Both sides should use these opportunities,” noted the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

Cemil Cicek went on saying: “Some countries evaluate Belarus not entirely correctly but we believe that the way we see Belarus is right. Whatever some may say, we would like our relations to advance. Opportunities are available for that, primarily for the development of economic relations,” said Cemil Cicek. He pointed out the large number of joint projects that can be implemented. He added that the Turkish side was interested in stepping up the presence of Turkish business in Belarus.
