Belarus, Turkmenistan committed to long-term cooperation

MINSK, 27 April (BelTA) – Belarus and Turkmenistan confirm their commitment to further enhancement of the long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov signed the relevant communique after talks on 27 April, BelTA has learned. The document reads: “In the atmosphere of friendship, mutual understanding and deep trust the presidents of Belarus and Turkmenistan discussed the state and prospects of progressive development of Belarusian-Turkmenian relations in various areas, exchanged views on topical international and regional problems”. The sides shared views on the progress in implementing the top level agreements. The heads of state were satisfied with the fact that the joint efforts had achieved essential concrete results. The sides have noticed the more profound political dialogue between Belarus and Turkmenistan, the promotion of trade, economic and humanitarian ties. An agreement has been reached to continue the practice of regular visits of government delegations and consultations, including consultations between the foreign ministries. Alexander Lukashenko and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov pointed out positive changes in mutual trade and vowed to create favorable conditions for future development of trade and economic ties between Belarus and Turkmenistan. The sides positively evaluated the performance of the Belarusian-Turkmenian commission for economic cooperation and the opening of the Belarusian and Turkmenian trading houses in Ashgabad and Minsk. The advisability of expanding direct ties between economic entities of the two countries was pointed out. It will be fostered by the signed agreement on creating a business council for cooperation between the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan.
