Korea to share its e-governance experience with Belarus

MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – A delegation of the Korea Institute of Public Administration (KIPA) is set to visit the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus on 4-9 September. The KIPA is a government-sponsored organization devoted to independent research on public policy and administration, BelTA learnt from Professor Igor Gancherenok, provost for academic affairs of the Belarusian Academy of Public Administration. The Korean experience in e-governance technologies is of particular interest for cooperation development between the scientists of the two countries. E-government creates a comfortable, transparent, and cheap interaction between government and citizens, business enterprises. “Online government in Korea has been praised as the world’s best by the UN. Of course we are interested in adopting these practices,” Igor Gancherenok said. While in Belarus, the Korean delegation led by the KIPA President will get familiar with the activity of the Belarusian Academy of Public Administration, visit the Ministry for Taxes and Duties, the Minsk City Hall, Belkommunmash and the Soligorsk Potash Plant. “The Republic of Korea, the same as Belarus, has poor mineral resources and surrounded by big neighboring countries. We live in similar conditions, that is why the development strategies we choose can be of interest for both the sides,” Igor Gancherenok said. The Academy of Public Administration and the Korea Institute of Public Administration are expected to sign an agreement on cooperation. “Thus, with the present level of cooperation that Belarus has with China and Vietnam, the country is likely to strengthen its position in this region, which countries have been showing rapid development,” Igor Gancherenok said.
