Treaty of community between the two brotherly countries on April 2, 1996, and entered into an agreement followed by the establishment of the Union State were a reflection of the aspirations of Belarusians and Russians for centuries lived side by side, fought together against numerous invaders, together ennoble their land rejoicing common achievements and victories.
Against the background of the tragedy that experienced by millions of people in connection with the collapse of their great country - the USSR, the signing of these crucial documents was a breath of hope for the restoration of the power of a single family of nations.
We are proud to be the first statesman who stated the need for integration and took decisive steps in this direction was our President Alexander Lukashenko. Treaty of Union between Belarus and Russia was of great historical significance as encourage others to join the unification process. As a result, we now have the Eurasian Economic Union - a powerful international organization with great prospects. Immense market, free movement of goods and labor, the effective implementation of joint humanitarian and business projects, presentation united front against threats of our time, concerted action on the world stage - all this gives us the EAEC, the founder of which can rightly be called memorable events of April 1996 year.
We believe that strengthening the union of fraternal peoples will bring rich rewards. This can be seen now. Just look at the Minsk region, which is well on the way of expanding and deepening cooperation with the regions of Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Kyrgyzstan and other allies. The date that we celebrate today, every year is becoming deeper meaning, becomes a symbol of goodwill, solidarity, peace and creation.
