The Collector\'s Week project will kick off at the Vileika Local Lore Museum on 24 March, BelTA learnt from research officer of the museum Nadezhda Avdei.
Under the project the museum will showcase 12 rare collections from March 2015 to March 2016. One-week-long exhibitions will be held once a month. According to Nadezhda Avdei, the expositions will feature items from the funds of the Vileika Local Lore Museum that have not been displayed before as well as interesting exhibits from private collections.
The first exhibition called Numismatics and Bonistics will be on show from 24-31 March. The expo will feature coins and banknotes from the museum funds and four private collections. Visitors will see more than 300 exhibits from all the continents, including banknotes of Trinidad and Tobago, Nigeria, Zambia and Madagascar. “Almost all the coins and banknotes are no longer used as means of payment,” Nadezhda Avdei said.
The Vileika Local Lore Museum will also showcase the following expositions: Phaleristics (badges), Phillumeny (matchboxes), Sucrology (sugar and tea sachets), Philately (stamps, envelopes), Deltiology and Postcrossing (cards), Porcelain, Calendars, Owls, Turtles, Elephants (animal figurines), USSR Toys, Headwear and Razors, From a Lantern to the Ilyich Lamp.
