Two years ago FC BATE Borisov got past Debrecen at the same qualifying stage of the tournament. The Belarusian team had a 1-1 draw at home and a 2-0 victory in the away match.
The ten-time champions of Belarus started out from the second qualifying round this year. In the first-leg game at Borisov Arena the Belarusian team held their opponents KF Skenderbeu Korce to a goalless draw. The send-leg match finished with a 1-1 draw.
