Israel to continue investment projects in Minsk oblast

MINSK, 4 September (BelTA) – Israeli businessmen are determined to continue the implementation of investment projects in Minsk Oblast, said Arie Zief, Vice President of the Israeli Federation of Chambers of Commerce, in a meeting of Minsk Oblast Governor Boris Batura with Israeli businessmen on 4 September. Minsk has welcomed representatives of 14 Israeli companies. Foreign businessmen confirmed their readiness to continue investment projects in Minsk Oblast. They plan to partake in the construction of hotels, agricultural facilities. Businessmen expressed interest in sharing experience in innovation technologies in road construction. According to Boris Batura, a number of projects is underway in Minsk Oblast with the participation of the Israeli capital: namely, at the Dzerzhinsky agricultural company, the 1st Minsk Battery Farm, in Lyuban and Soligorsk Districts. The Governor expressed hope for further cooperation with Israeli companies in agriculture, trade and tourism. “Minsk Oblast has created unique conditions for investment projects. for example, taxes are no levied in the Naroch region for the period of construction of facilities,” said Boris Batura. He recommended investing in construction of small enterprises producing the goods enjoying good demand at home and abroad. In January-June 2012, the foreign trade between Minsk Oblast and Israel increased 2.5 times as against the same period a year earlier to a total of about $8 million. In H1 the major exports to Israel were aluminum metal constructions, foundry pallets, molds for casting, wheat and wheat-rye flour. The region imported mainly chemical fertilizers, fruit and vegetable juices, cosmetics. In H1 exports of services to Israel rose 7.8 times compared with the same period last year to about $141,000.
