Victory Day parade kicks off in Minsk
MINSK, 9 May (BelTA) – A solemn procession to celebrate Victory Day has set off from Oktyabrskaya Square in Minsk. Partaking in the parade are nearly 10,000 people who will walk down Independence Avenue to Victory Square, BelTA has learnt.
The procession is led by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko accompanied by Soviet Union and Socialist Labor heroes, veterans of the Armed Forces, soldiers-internationalists, the heroes of Belarus and Great Patriotic War participants.
Partaking in the procession are also top officials, representatives of state and civil organizations, labor collectives, diplomats and the youth.
The participants of the parade will observe a minute’s silence in honor of the fallen and lay wreaths and flowers at the Victory Monument.
