Investors offered radiofrequencies for establishing high-speed network in Minsk, Minsk District

MINSK, 21 June (BelTA) - The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of Belarus has announced a tender for the use of a 60MHz radio band in the 5650-5725MHz range. The range is offered for organizing public broadband data transmission services in Minsk and the district., BelTA learnt from Sergei Chigrin, a senior expert at the radio frequency management sector of the regulation department of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. According to him, this range can be used to provide any wireless broadband access service. Thus, an investor will choose which particular technology to use. But most likely these will be Wi-Fi or WiMax. Only one lot will be put out to the tender. The winner of the tender will be announced on 30 August this year. Tender documents shall be provided in the Ministry of Communications by 20 July. The tender is open to legal entities and individual entrepreneurs who have submitted bids in the order prescribed in Resolution No. 1259 of the Council of Ministers governing radiofrequency use tenders. Bidders are expected to have a business plan for the investment project.
