Belarusian PM: Education needs to keep pace with modern trends

The education sector needs to keep pace with modern trends and to aspire to new new heights, Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko said at a meeting to celebrate Teacher's Day in the Palace of the Republic in Minsk on 28 September, BelTA has learned.

"I am very pleased to wish Happy Teacher's Day on behalf of the government of our country. Education has always been a priority of state policy and the focus of attention of the country's leadership. Recently, at a large meeting with the head of state, we discussed a wide range of issues of improving the education sector: from the repair of educational institutions and meals to the textbooks and the training of future specialists. Our task is to preserve and develop all the positive experience accumulated over the years in the education system. However, we need to get rid of certain templates and adapt the education sector to modern trends, bring it to a qualitatively new level,” Roman Golovchenko said.

He also read out the head of state's message of greetings on Teacher's Day.

The prime minister announced the Teacher of the Year in Belarus on 28 September. Sergei Shaminsky, a teacher of fine arts at Dovsk secondary school, Rogachev District was named the Teacher of the Year 2023.
