Over 11,000 Belarusians have joined the savings program known as “the second pension”. Belarusian Labor and Social Protection Minister Irina Kostevich made the statement on the air of the TV channel Belarus One, BelTA has learned.
A voluntary pension savings program with financial support from the state (3% plus 3%) was introduced more than three months ago. According to Irina Kostevich, over 11,000 agreements have been signed as part of the program. “Women are in the lead. The program is most popular in Minsk and the oblast,” the official explained.
Belarusians will be able to get the money they save for 5 or 10 years after retirement. Most of the Belarusians choose the 5-year option. “We see strong interest and continue this work,” the minister said.
