The state program Castles of Belarus may undergo changes in 2016, Belarus\' Deputy Culture Minister Alexander Yatsko told journalists on 13 August, BelTA has learned.
“In light of the plans to introduce new approaches to the development of state programs in Belarus in 2016, this program may also undergo some changes in 2016,” Alexander Yatsko explained.
“There are doubts whether we can afford the same financing for the program as we planned before. In this context, it is possible that the implementation of some project activities will be postponed. However, I cannot make any categorical statements at the moment. When we review the results and discuss the data for the last period at the session (of the Belarusian Culture Ministry in September – BelTA\'s note), we will make a joint decision,” Alexander Yatsko noted.
As was reported by BelTA, the state program Castles of Belarus for 2012-2018 was adopted by the Council of Ministers in January 2012. The program envisages activities to preserve the cultural heritage of the country. All the activities were designed keeping in mind the specific features of the objects, their exterior design, natural surroundings, and landscape. According to the historians studying ancient architecture, at least 150 castles existed on the territory of Belarus in different times. Few of them have survived up to the present day.
